The unique complexities of retail leasing require a high level of hands on experience. Byron started his leasing practice as general counsel for a Bay Area shopping center developer with over 600 tenants, and continued in that capacity for 20 years. He has maintained a high level of retail leasing experience, including the following recent projects:

  • Represented DVM Lessee in lease of 6,300 square feet of shopping center premises for Veterinary Specialty Hospital
  • Represented shopping center landlord in lease of over 58,000 square feet to Outdoor Supply and Hardware
  • Represented neighborhood shopping center owner in lease of 27,000 square feet to Big Lots!.
  • Represented Santa Cruz Mountains winery in lease of tasting room premises in downtown Los Altos.
  • Represented property owner in lease of gas station, auto repair, car wash and mini mart premises in Newark, CA.
  • Represented gas station mini mart operator in long term lease and assumption of gas station operations in Murphys, CA. 
  • Represented Landlord in renewal of bank lease in Palo Alto using formal appraisal to determine fair market value.
  • Represented Landlord in retail branch bank leases to Wells Fargo Bank, HSBC, and Citibank.
  • Lease of North Bay auto dealership property with 45,000 sf of showroom, auto repair and office space.
  • Lease of North Bay auto dealership property with 30,000 sf of showroom, repair and office space.
  • Represented fitness club franchisee in lease of 12,000 sf premises in Fairfield shopping center.
